Saturday, January 14, 2012 11:30 pm AAUW LV Monthly Luncheon at Landry’s Seafood House enjoyed lunch and a presentation by Pat Mulroy from the Clark County Water District.
Friday, February 3, 2012 5:30 pm 2012 UNLV CSSA Chinese New Year Gala, UNLV Student Union Ballroom. AAUWLV helped sponsor this event and had an information table at registration. Students and community members explored Chinese culture and cuisine, while celebrating the Chinese New Year. AAUWLV member Xirui Yan did an excellent job hosting the event. The Chinese Student & Scholar Assn. has a Facebook page and webpage link at Chinese Festival.

Saturday, March 10, 2012 4 pm “LET THE MUSIC SPEAK” was the theme of a free piano recital by Ruth E. Johnson at Desert Spring United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 10, 2012, 4 P. M. Special selections by Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Ellington, Joplin and others were heard. Ruth is a gifted musician and valued member of AAUW Las Vegas.
Tuesday, March 12, 2012 12:30 pm AAUWLV toured the Smith Center. Members and guests enjoyed the tour, then lunch and shopping followed.

Saturday, April 21, 2012 1:30-3:30 pm was the 158th Birthday Celebration for HELEN J. STEWART at the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort. We enjoyed an Afternoon Tea and cake, and a conversation with “Helen Stewart” as portrayed by interpreter and AAUWLV member Dr. Linda Miller.

May 5, 2012 Funeral Services were held for AAUW Las Vegas member, Joanne West. Here is a note from her daughter, Sandy: Dear Friends of Joanne West, Our mother wanted to send a message to those who touched her life. On Sunday, April 29th Joanne went peacefully to be with the Lord. Her final days were spent in loving care of her family. We want to thank you for your loving support and friendship especially during her past two years. The phone calls, letters, emails and gifts always brought sunshine to her face! She would like you to know that she looks forward to seeing you in the same beautiful place where she has gone and she will love you forever! Saturday, May 12, 2012 11:30 pm. The AAUW LV Monthly Luncheon and Installation was held at Kae’s beautiful home. A delicious luncheon was catered by A Thyme for All Seasons. Charlene and her board presented a recap of the year and the 2012-2013 Board was installed.

We were pleased to have Congresswoman Shelley Berkley and Matt Morris, from the office of Senator Dean Heller, address our group.
Saturday, October 13, 2012 11:30 am AAUW LV Monthly Luncheon Congressman Joe Heck and State Assembly Speaker John Oceguera addressed the group. We were also pleased to hear from our Millie Hoffler-Foushee , AAUW National Finance Chair and longtime friend of Lola Jackson. Linda Miller announced her upcoming book release on Nevada Women.
On Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:30 am at A Thyme for All Seasons on Warm Springs, AAUW LV enjoyed a repeat visit from nationally syndicated radio talk show host and local physician Daliah Wachs—or Dr. Daliah. With her contageous humor and good clinical knowledge, she informed us about our largest organ, our skin, as well as answered questions about other health matters. We celebrated National Healthy Skin Month with gift bags of items from Neoteric, Trace Minerals, Stevens Skin Cream, and Calmoseptine.
Saturday, December 1, 2012 11:00 am AAUW LV Holiday Brunch and Annual Silent Auction to benefit local scholarships. We also gathered items (of clothing and personal items) for Safe Nest and West Care. We had a great group of members and guests who bid on items (and brought items) for a successful fundraiser and delightful meeting. We enjoyed returning to the Social Club, which is the separate building north of the Main Street Station Casino entrance (by the parking garage).AAUW Holiday Party invite 2012

March 12, 2011—Chris Davies, PharmD, clinical pharmacist and nationally recognized geriatric pharmacy specialist, and AAUW member and Geriatric Care Consultant, Julie Davies, answered questions regarding medication management. Lunch meeting at Landry’s Seafood House.
April 8-9, 2011—AAUW Nevada State Convention at the Golden Nugget Convention Center, hosted by AAUW Las Vegas.

Thursday, November 3, 2011 Funeral Services for Laura Lippold were held at 10 a.m. at S. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Avenue. Burial Services followed at Palm Memorial Park – Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Laura was a long time member of AAUW and is best known for coordinating the Bridge Club activities and tournaments, which brought in hundreds of dollars for local scholarships. Laura, loved by everyone who knew her, will be missed. A memorial scholarship will be awarded in her name by the AAUW LV Branch in 2011. Laura Lippold

Tuesday, November 15, 2011 Chili’s Fundraiser Bring the AAUW Chili’s flyer into one of three Chili’s Restaurants and Chili’s will donate 15% of your dinner bill to AAUW Las Vegas Scholarship Fund. Receive a copy of the flyer at the monthly luncheon or download it from this site.

Saturday, December 17, 2011 11:30 pm AAUW LV Holiday Luncheon at Rio Secco Golf and Country Club for the Annual Holiday Gala and Silent Auction Members and guests enjoyed a delicious lunch, entertainment, and participated in a silent auction. Members brought silent auction items and donations for Safe Nest and Project Hope Charities.

November 13, 2010—Mentoring Brainstorming Meeting. Members and guests spoke about memorable mentors in their lives and brainstormed about how we can mentor university students. Lunch meeting at Landry’s Seafood House.
December 12, 2010—Holiday Celebration at Rio Secco Golf Club, which included a silent auction and collections for the West Care Facility for Women and Children.
